Happy Birthday Lionel Richie! Look back at his full Official UK Chart history, including 20 Top 40 singles
Once, twice, three times a legend.
Hello Lionel and a very Happy Birthday!
The legendary entertainer celebrates his 69th birthday today, plenty of years that have been jam-packed with an abundance of hits.
Famous for not only his solo material, but also his work with The Commodores, Lionel has scored 2 Number 1 hits when both of his ventures are combined, and a bonus third as part of USA for Africa. The charity group's iconic track We Are The World was co-wrote by Lionel alongside Michael Jackson. Songwriting duo goals right there.
Remarkably, Hello is Lionel's only solo Number 1 hit, but he has managed a further seven Top 10 classics such as Endless Love (with Diana Ross) and All Night Long. He's also scooped an impressive three Number 1 albums and his most recent release Tuskegee, peaked within the Top 10.
As part of The Commodores, Lionel and Co rocketed to the top in 1978 with Three Times a Lady, and also hit the Top 10 with the likes of Easy and Nightshift.
