Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Rolling Stones and Chase & Status see massive sales uplifts following last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival.

Acts who appeared at last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival look set to dominate this week’s Official Albums Chart.

According to today's Official Charts Company sales data released by the BPI, the body representing the UK's record labels, nearly 50% of the this week’s Top 40 albums (19 albums) are by acts who played at Glastonbury.

Mumford & Sons, who closed the festival on Sunday night, are set to return to Number 1 this weekend with their 2012 second album, Babel. Sales of the album on Sunday and Monday were up 384% compared to the same period a week ago. The band’s 2009 debut album, Sigh No More, is also back in the Top 10, surging 29 places from Number 37 to Number 8, with sales up 360% on last week. Bastille’s Bad Blood (7) and Rudimental’s Home (10) are also set to return to the Top 10.

Gennaro Castaldo of the BPI, comments: “We know that high profile awards shows, such as the BRITs, and music festivals can have a huge galvanising effect on artist sales soon after they are broadcast, but in recent years the ‘Glasto effect’ seems to have become even more pronounced, particularly now that so many more of us can use our mobile devices to gain instant access to our favourite tracks and albums.”

Saturday night headliners The Rolling Stones’ 2012 best of, Grrr!, surges 32 places to Number 17, while Friday night headliners Arctic Monkeys’ 2006 debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, is up 17 to Number 15. Their 2007 follow-up, Favourite Worst Nightmare, climbs 28 places to Number 34.

Chase & Status, who headlined the Other Stage on Saturday night, are this week’s highest climber, soaring 136 places to Number 36 with No More Idols.

Meanwhile, Nile Rodgers’ newly released Greatest Hits package, The Chic Organization - Up All Night, looks set to debut at Number 1 on the Official Compilation Albums Chart. The 25 track best of features some of his biggest hits with Chic – including Le Freak, Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah) and Everybody Dance - as well as his work with the likes of Diana Ross, Sister Sledge, Carly Simon and Debbie Harry, among others.
