Get Lucky becomes Daft Punk's biggest hit of Daft Punk's career

Daft Punk remain firmly locked at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart for a second week as sales of Get Lucky accelerate yet again, shifting a staggering 163,000 copies since last Sunday.

The disco-drenched Get Lucky featuring N.E.R.D’s Pharrell Williams and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers not only extends its title of the fastest selling single of the year, but in just a little over two weeks the lead single from upcoming album Random Access Memories has notched up UK sales of 369,000, to become the biggest hit of the French duo’s career, overtaking 2000’s club smash One More Time.

Get Lucky is now firmly on its way to becoming one of 2013’s biggest sellers.

Former chart topper Rudimental FT Ella Eyre’s Waiting All Night (2) delivers another strong performance, selling 81,000 copies in its third week of release. The Hackney four-piece’s previous Number 1 – Feel The Love FT John Newman – is also this week’s highest climber, up 34 places to Number 30.

Thrift Shop connoisseurs Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s ascent continues with latest single Can’t Hold Us (3) climbing for a seventh week running.

UK singer/songwriter Passenger AKA Mike Rosenberg picks up his first Top 5 hit with the folky Let Her Go. The track, which has topped the charts across Europe and Australia, gains seven places on the UK’s Official Chart, this week’s Number 4.

The Top 5 is completed by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s I Need Your Love (5).

New entries

This week’s highest new entry comes courtesy of Disclosure FT Eliza Doolittle (10) with You & Me – the electronic duo’s second Top 10 hit of 2013, following the success of White Noise (featuring AlunaGeorge) which peaked at Number 2 earlier in the year.

Misha B scores her third Top 40 hit with Here’s To Everything (Ooh La La), fresh in today at Number 35.

Michael Molloy, a young Liverpool teenager who tragically lost his life last September following a coach crash on the way home from Bestival festival in the Isle Of Wight has achieved a Top 40 placing.

Michael, 18, was one of three people who died in the tragedy, and now a song Rise And Fall, which was written by Michael a year earlier and recorded by Michael’s friend, band mate and musical collaborator Alex Evans, lands at Number 38 on the Official Chart this week.

The track has been released by organisers of Bestival, Sunday Best on their label Sunday Best Recordings. Michael’s mother Frances said: “The release of Michael’s single will represent a small step in the long and hard job of rebuilding our lives. We will always be thankful for the fact that he was the happiest 18-year-old alive at the time of his death. He was fulfilled and full of hopes and dreams. One of those dreams was for his talent to be recognised”.

Bestival organiser and Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank said: “It’s obvious to me that Michael was a young and rare talent and that music was an extremely important part of his life. I’ve heard he absolutely loved Bestival and had a great time at Bestival 2012 so I feel privileged to be able to help his family fulfill his and their ambition of gettting Michael’s music out there.”
