At just 17, Nashville pop prodigy Gayle has a huge, breakout hit on her hands in the form of her anthemic kiss-off ABCDEFU.

The cutting track - Gayle's debut major label single after signing with Atlantic - is riding the crest of a viral wave. It's already become her first-ever charting placement on the Official Singles Chart, and today ABCDEFU becomes the UK's Number 1 Trending Song.

According to Official Charts Company data, ABCDEFU could be heading straight for the UK Top 10 this Friday. It would be the cherry on top of the cake for the ascendant rise of Gayle on the Official Singles Chart over the last few weeks.

A classic break-up anthem, ABCDEFU seems ripped directly from the songbook of acts like Julia Michaels and Olivia Rodrigo, all about burning the ground and salting the earth so nothing can grow back after a split.

There are also a massive 17 new or re-entries on the Official Trending Chart this week, mostly made up of brand-new Christmas songs for 2021, just as the most wonderful time of the year closes.

A lot of the new entries are part of Amazon Music's exclusive Christmas line-up; this includes Olivia Dean's The Christmas Song, Camila Cabello's I'll Be Home For Christmas and a new version of Taylor Swift's Christmas Tree Farm exclusive to Amazon Music listeners.

We also have new Christmas music from Kelly Clarkson, on the rise with her Ariana Grande duet Santa Can't You Hear Me? and the modern King of Christmas Michael Buble with The Christmas Sweater, while Carrie Underwood is a re-entry with Favorite Time of Year. This week's biggest climber comes courtesy of George Ezra and Come On Home For Christmas, another Amazon Music exclusive.

In non-Christmas-related songs, Years & Years have teamed up with producers Galantis for a slice of effervescent disco-pop called Sweet Talk, while debut UK pop-rock outfit Crawlers are beginning to make a good impression with their single Come Over (Again).

And finally, Westlife's Starlight is another new trending entry, taken from their new album Wild Dreams which is currently in the midset of challenging Adele for the Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart later this week.

Wonderful. The Gayle track is another online-popular emo-pop borefest. I had it already with the likes of Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Mimi Webb. abcdef that song.
