Gayle flies into Number 1 with abcdefu on the Irish Singles Chart
Plus brand new songs from Disney's Encanto, and Belters Only make their chart debut.
American singer Gayle has flown to Number 1 on the Official Irish Singles Chart with abcdefu, as new and old songs flood back into the Top 50 post-Christmas.
Gayle, aged just 17, climbs five places to Number 1 with her breakout single, which grew in popularity thanks in part to major viral success. It’s Gayle’s first ever Number 1 single in Ireland, and holds off Adele’s Easy On Me (2) by fewer than 10 chart sales.
Do It To It by Acraze ft. Cherish flies 21 places to a brand new peak of Number 3, while We Don’t Talk About Bruno by the cast of Encanto – the first of several tracks from the new animated Disney musical – enters the Top 50 for the first time at Number 4. Other Encanto soundtrack songs in this week’s Top 50 are Surface Pressure by Jessica Darrow (16), and The Family Madrigal by Stephanie Beatriz and Olga Merediz (48).
At Number 5, Lost Frequencies earn a new peak for Where Are You Now ft. Calum Scott, and Sam Fender also scoops a new peak with Seventeen Going Under at Number 6. Dermot Kennedy’s Better Days returns to the Top 10 at Number 7.
Further down, there are new peaks for The Motto by Tiesto & Ava Max, back in the chart at Number 22, and Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran’s Peru which jumps 16 to Number 25.
Floridian indie-folk band The 502s enter the Top 50 for the first time with Just A Little While at Number 29, while D-Block Europe’s Overseas ft. Central Cee lands at Number 31; D-Block Europe also see Make You Smile ft. AJ Tracey fly into the chart this week at Number 50.
Finally, Make Me Feel Good by Dublin’s Belters Only collective ft. Jazzy flies in at Number 32. The sleeper hit which was originally released in July 2021, enters the Official Irish Charts for the first time today after going viral online around New Year’s Eve.
