To celebrate the release of her debut album, English Rain, Gabrielle Aplin reveals the stories behind her biggest Official Singles Chart smash hits!
Despite only releasing her first single less than six months ago, Gabrielle Aplin has already had an amazing chart career.
The 20 year old from Wiltshire shot straight to the top of the Official Singles Chart back in December with her debut single, a hauntingly beautiful cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s 1984 smash, The Power Of Love. And it’s two predecessors, Please Don’t Say You Love Me and Panic Cord, peaked inside the Top 10 and Top 20, respectively.
With her debut album, English Rain, looking set to make a huge impact on this week’s Official Albums Chart, we thought we’d invite Gabrielle over to Official Charts HQ for a chat!
“It’s an incredible feeling to finally release English Rain,” she explains. “I actually spent a year recording it; we finished it in March this year and started it in March last year, so it’s been a long time coming!”
We also asked Gabrielle to reveal stories behind The Power Of Love, Please Don’t Say You Love Me and Panic Cord.
