Frankie Knuckles scores first Top 40 hit in nearly 20 years
Late house pioneer Frankie Knuckles returns to the Top 40 today as fans pay tribute by buying one of his best-loved tracks.
As fans pay tribute to Frankie Knuckles, the late DJ’s signature track, Your Love, has shot into the Top 40 of the UK’s Official Singles Chart today.
Widely regarded as the Godfather Of House, Frankie sadly passed away on Monday (March 31) from what is believed to be complications resulting from Type 2 diabetes. He was 59 years old.
Your Love, which was used as the soundbed for The Source’s Top 10 hit You Got The Love by FT Candi Staton, originally peaked at Number 59 in 1989. However, it makes its Top 40 debut today at Number 29, thanks to a Facebook campaign to get the Chicago legend back into the Official Singles Chart.
Frankie’s last UK Top 40 hit was Whadda You Want (From Me) FT Adeva, which reached Number 36 in 1995, while his most successful UK track was 1991’s Top 20 hit The Whistle Song, which peaked at Number 17.
