Every double A-side UK Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart
Double the music, double the fun?
By Jack White
The double A-side really is a beacon of a bygone era on the Official Chart.
Technological advances mean it's unlikely we'll see two songs have joint billing at Number 1 again, but recent times have seen a new trend for releasing dual singles.
Look back at the 38 double A-side singles to peak at Number 1 in the UK, ranging from the first official one from The Beatles in 1965, until the most recent from McFly in 2007.

The Clash's re-issue of Should I Stay Or Should I Go? that got to no 1 in 1991 had Rush by Big Audio Dynamite (Mick Jones' then current band) listed as an AA - side .

What happened to The Next Time / Bachelor Boy by Cliff Richard from 1962? And technically Travellin' Light & Dynamite was a double A, although they were listed as separate songs (different chart positions) in the chart at the same time in 1959.

Hi Robert
The next time / Bachelor Boy was not officialy a double A.Side. Bachelor Boy was officialy a B.Side even though it became a bigger hit

It might have been useful to highlight this distinction in the article as I don't think it's common knowledge. I was looking for Last Christmas/Everything She Wants by George Michael as I thought that was an double A.

There are some that I didn't even know were double a-sides. For example, I knew about 'The Model' but not 'Computer Love', and I knew about 'A Town Called Malice' but not about 'Precious'.
Furthermore, the idea of a-sides and b-sides has simply become a figure of speech since CD singles came about, and the same could be said about downloads now; it's still possible to officially release more than one track simultaneously.
