Eurovision 2022: Dua Lipa and Lana Del Rey's management to select UK entry
Dua Lipa and Lana Del Rey's management team will choose the UK's entry into the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, it's been announced.
Tap Music also manages the careers of Ellie Goulding, Dermot Kennedy and Hailee Steinfeld, and will be looking to reinvigorate the British entry to the international competition, following James Newman's last place nul points finish this year.
Speaking to the BBC to announce the news, Tap's Ben Mawson said: "We're really excited to be teaming up with the BBC for this event and will use Eurovision to authentically reflect and celebrate the rich, diverse and world-class musical talent the UK is globally renowned for.
Mawson said that the artist and song have yet to be chosen, but "Eurovision isn't as political as people think [...] We want to see this platform as development for a career."
🇬🇧We have landed an exciting new collaboration with @tapmusic who are the team behind @DUALIPA, Lana Del Rey & @elliegoulding.

The validity of Eurovision as an international star-making opportunity has been demonstrated better than ever recently by the success of this year's winners Måneskin.
The rock band made history as the first Italians act to land two simultaneous UK Top 10 singles - and they joined a very select list of Eurovision acts to crack the Official Singles Chart Top 10. I Wanna Be Your Slave eventually peaked at Number 5, and Beggin' at Number 6. Their Eurovision winning song - Zitti E Buoni - peaked at Number 17.
The UK has not placed in the Top 10 of Eurovision since Jade Ewen's entry in 2008. The process for choosing our ambassador for the competition has shifted numerous times throughout the years; the public were given the choice to select an act in a series of live shows until 2019, where BBC instead relied on record label BMG to select a performer.
Eurovision 2022 will take place in Turin's PalaOlimpico Arena in May 2022. The semi-finals will air on May 10 and 12, with the final set for May 14 2022.
