Emeli Sande set for tenth week at Number 1
Emeli Sande looks set to hold onto Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart for the tenth week this weekend. Plus: The Official Albums Chart Update Top 40 revealed in full!
Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events is on course to spend a tenth non-consecutive at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.
The Scottish singer, who took home the British Female and Album Of The Year trophies at last week’s BRIT Awards, has spent an incredible 55 weeks in the Top 10 with her debut album; a record for any solo artist.
To date, Our Version Of Events has sold over 1.6 million copies since it was released last February and was the biggest selling album of 2012.
Atoms For Peace, the new experimental rock supergroup formed by members of Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers, look set to debut at Number 2 on Sunday with their first full-length, Amok. BRITs British Group winners Mumford And Sons are at Number 3 on today’s Official Albums Chart Update with their second album, Babel, while Ben Howard’s Every Kingdom and The Motion Picture Cast Recording of Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of Les Miserables remain static at Number 4 and 5, respectively.
New Entries
In addition to Atoms For Peace’s Amok (2), there are eight other new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart Update Top 40.
Former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr’s long-awaited debut solo album is new in at Number 6 today, followed by American crooner Josh Groban’s sixth album, All That Echoes, at Number 7.
London indie rockers Palma Violets are on course to enter the Official Albums Chart at Number 8 with their debut album, 180, while veteran West End star Michael Ball could be back in the Top 10 on Sunday with his first new material in almost two years. Ball’s eighteenth solo album, Both Sides Now, is at Number 9 on today’s Update.
This week’s new entries are completed by Porcupine Tree guitarist Steven Wilson’s The Raven That Refused To Sing (13), Petula Clark’s Lost In You (23), The Glee Cast’s Glee – The Music: Season 4, Volume 1 (36) and Nashville singer/songwriter Caitlin Rose’s The Stand-In (39).
