Ella Henderson has revealed her new single Mirror Man is about “the most selfish man” she’s ever met.

Talking to OfficialCharts.com, the singer admitted that it’s one of her favourite songs to perform live because of its “sassy” lyrics.

“Mirror Man shows a side of my character that I don’t often get to show – it doesn’t need to come out unless you rub me up the wrong way! This person obviously did,” she said.

“I get to be a bit sassy when I sing this one on stage. Each song on my album is so dynamically different – there are songs that show my vulnerability and there are ones about female empowerment. This song definitely has an ounce of that.

“One thing I love about this track is how the fans react to it when I perform it - they seem to know every word of it. It’s about a relatable subject that lots of singers talk about, but I think it’s done here in quite a different and blunt way.”

Asked if the subject of the song is aware it’s about them, she said: “Probably not because they love themselves that much! I think everyone in life has experienced a mirror man or mirror girl. If you haven’t you will at some point.”

Mirror Man - released March 8 - serves as the fourth single from Henderson’s debut album Chapter One, which topped the Official Albums Chart in October last year. The record has since entered the charts across Europe and debuted at Number 11 in America.

“The way things are going in America is crazy,” she said. “I’m only just introducing Ghost out there and it’s still climbing the chart.

“The crowds out there are wild and bit more free. London crowds in particular are a bit more polite and reserved, but US crowds really seem to get into it. That said, I’ve only done a handful of small shows in the UK so far, so I’m sure I'll think differently soon enough!”
