Ella Henderson set for chart-topping debut with Ghost

Ella Henderson looks set to score one of the fastest selling singles of 2014 so far with Ghost.

Ella Henderson is on course to debut at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart this Sunday with her first single, Ghost.

Ella, who rose to fame just under two years ago after appearing on the 2012 series of  X Factor, teamed up with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder to co-write the track, which is racing towards this weekend’s chart summit.

Up to midnight last night, over 78,000 copies of the track have been purchased in the UK, and it looks set to become one of the fastest selling singles of the year so far. Ghost is the first single to be lifted from Ella’s upcoming album, Chapter One, which will be released later this year through Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco.

Ed Sheeran slides one place to Number 2 with Sing, while Dutch DJ Tiesto is on track for his highest charting single to date with Wasted FT Matthew Koma (Number 3).

Today’s Top 5 is completed by Sam Smith’s Stay With Me (down two to Number 4) and Little Mix’s Salute (up 19 places to Number 5).

New Entries and High Climbers

In addition to Ella Henderson’s Ghost (Number 1) and Tiesto’s Wasted FT Matthew Koma, there are three other new entries on today’s Official Singles Chart Update.

North London MC Skepta is on track for his six Top 40 hit this weekend with That’s Not Me FT JME (Number 14). Lil Wayne’s Believe Me FT Drake climbs 47 places to make its Top 40 debut at Number 28 today, while Raleigh Ritchie, AKA Game Of Thrones star Jacob Anderson, climbs 28 places to enter the Top 40 with Stronger Than Ever (30).

Meanwhile, Zedd’s 2013 hit Clarity FT Foxes re-enters the Top 40 at 35, while DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s Turn Down For What climbs 10 places to Number 36.
