Ed Sheeran set to end All About That Bass’s reign at Number 1
Ed Sheeran is set to end All About That Bass’s reign at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.
The singer/songwriter’s Thinking Out Loud is likely to make its chart peak this Sunday after 19 weeks on the chart, currently 10,000 copies ahead of Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass.
If it holds its position, Thinking Out Loud will become Ed’s second UK Number 1 single, after hitting the top spot for the first time back in June this year with Sing.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift climbs two places to Number 3 with Shake It Off, and German producer Parra for Cuva is on course to be this week’s highest new entry with Wicked Games, featuring Anna Naklab. The track, which is a cover of Chris Isaak’s 1990 track Wicked Game, has also found success in Belgium and The Netherlands.
New entries and high climbers
After the unveiling of its music video starring Danny Devito last week, One Direction’s Steal My Girl rebounds 11 to 6, and Ed Sheeran’s Don’t rises 22 to 14.
Following their performance on last week’s X Factor, OneRepublic’s I Lived enters at Number 23, and newcomer Alexa Goddard could score her second Top 40 single this Sunday with So There, which is currently at Number 39. Alexa first charted in the Top 20 as an unsigned act back in 2010 after rising to fame on YouTube with a cover of Keri Hilson’s Turn My Swag On. Alexa has since been signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label.
