Ed Sheeran’s new album X smashes through 182,000 UK sales in its first week of release.

Congratulations to Ed Sheeran who has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Albums Charttoday with his second full-length album, X.

In doing so, the 23-year-old singer/songwriter has overtaken Coldplay’s Ghost Stories to claim the fastest selling artist album of 2014 so far.

According to Official Charts Company sales data, X (pronounced ‘multiply’), has sold more than 182,000 copies in UK over the last seven days; a cool 14,000 copies more than Coldplay’s opening week tally back in May.

X features Ed’s recent singles One and Sing; the latter of which became his first Number 1 UK single earlier this month.
