Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You set for eighth week at the top boosted by Stormzy and Major Lazer remixes
Ed Sheeran's Shape of You is heading for a massive eighth week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, boosted by the release of two star-studded remixes of the song.
The two mixes - one of which features Major Lazer - count towards Shape of You's overall chart placing rather than separate entries. So far, Shape of You has been downloaded more times in today's Update than it was in the entirety of last week.
The second remix featuring Stormzy was debuted at last week’s BRIT Awards and is one of eight tracks by the grime artist in today's mid-week Top 40 following the release of his debut album Gang Signs and Prayer.
Big For Your Boots rises 11 to a potential new peak of Number 6, while Cold (22) First Things First (23), Bad Boys (26), Mr Skeng (30), Kehlani collaboration Cigarettes & Cush (35) are all new entries. Former Top 10 single Shut Up also vaults 82 places to Number 38.

New entries and high climbers
The Chainsmokers' most high profile collaboration yet with Coldplay has propelled 28 places to Number 2 at the mid-week stage. Something Just Like This would become The Chainsmokers' fourth Top 5 single and Coldplay's eighth should it hold on by Friday.
Katy Perry's Chained to the Rhythm is heading for a new peak of Number 3, up two spots, while Calvin Harris' new single Slide featuring Frank Ocean & Migos opens at Number 11. Rag'n'Bone Man's second single Skin is also popular, climbing four rungs to 16.
Little Mix's Shout Out To My Ex flies 12 ranks to Number 24 following their euphoric BRITs performance, just ahead of a new entry from Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign - Swalla is at 27.
Alessia Cara could bag her second Top 40 entry with Stay, her hook-up with German DJ Zedd (30) while Lana Del Rey could break into the Top 40 for the first time in June 2014 with Love, up eight to 33. Finally, The 1975's The Sound could return to the Top 40 following the BRITs (37).

I Am A Stegosaurus
Sorry for jumping on the bandwagon but STOP ALLOWING ALBUM TRACKS TO CHART IN THE TOP 40, NEVER MIND THE TOP 100. Eight d**k-kicking entries from Stormzy in the top 40 is the only reason necessary

I actually laughed when they cleared up in the article about whether remixes count towards the originals performance or not
Misan Boyo
So a remix can count towards a songs tally, how does that work???

By adding the totals together.

So if a remix can add to the amount of week's a song can remain at No 1 the original shouldn't be able to take another position on the chart - right?

Historically Frankie Goes To Hollywood used this technique to remain at number 1
