Ed Sheeran dances with his Eyes Closed to Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart

Eyes Closed is currently leading the race for Number 1 this week.

Ed Sheeran has debuted at Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart with his brand new single, Eyes Closed.

The emotional lead track from Ed's forthcoming new album - (Subtract), sees Ed reacting to a turbulent few years in his life, following the death of his best friend, Jamal Edwards, and several health issues experienced by his wife Cherry Seaborn last year.

Despite reports that Subtract, Sheeran's acoustic-led, most personal album yet, would be produced by The National's Aaron Dessner (who helped Taylor Swift create folklore and evermore), Eyes Closed comes courtesy of Swedish super-producers Max Martin (who has just started working with Madonna) and Shellback and Ed's frequent collaborator Fred again...

And it seems that UK audiences are really reacting to Eyes Closed - not only is it the UK's Official Number 1 Trending Song, it's also charging ahead towards a Number 1 debut proper on the Official Singles Chart.

Other new entries on the Trending Chart this week come from BTS member Jimin, fresh off setting a record for the K-pop superstars (Like Crazy), folk-pop singer-songwriter Paris Paloma (Labour), BRIT award-winning girlband FLO with their brand new, Missy Elliot featuring banger (Fly Girl), which could become Renée, Stella & Jorja's first ever UK Top 40 single.

We also have two big gainers this week - Nathan Daw, Bru-C, BSHP and Issey Cross' Oh Baby, which is having something of a resurgence up the chart (it has so far peaked at Number 35) and US country superstar Luke Combs' 5 Leaf Clover, as he comes one step closer to gaining his first ever UK Top 5 album with Gettin' Old.

And apparently there is a Rumour that he wrote "seeeeelessssteeeeyyuuuuuulllllll" in between brushing his teeth and curling out his morning number 2 in just 4 minutes. And you can tell. 🤪
