Ed Sheeran thinks he's managed to top his signature song Thinking Out Loud on his new album ÷
The singer-songwriter is confident that he's produced a bigger song than the hit single, which topped the charts across the globe in 2014.
"I felt that with the first album, I remember thinking I would never write a song as good as A Team," Ed said in an interview with the BBC. "And then Thinking Out Loud came, and I was like, 'Oh, OK, well maybe it's not impossible.'
"So going into this album, there was no worry at all because I knew I'd done it before. It's not like Thinking Out Loud will be the peak of my career. It's definitely happened on this album. There's definitely one that's better."
The track, called Perfect, features on his third studio album ÷, which is out this Friday (March 3). Ed explained that the song is about his "beautiful and smart" girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, and was inspired by "being in love".

Ed also opened up about the process of writing his new record, revealing that he would write several songs around one subject, with the best one making the final cut of the album.
"I had in my mind what sound should be on what song," he explained, "And which subject matter would be on which song - so I'd write 10 songs for that [idea].
"So there's six or seven songs about Suffolk, but Castle On The Hill was the best one. And then there was a bunch of wedding songs, I guess, and Perfect was the best one."
Ed is currently on course to log an eighth week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Shape Of You, boosted by two new remixes - one with Major Lazer and another with Stormzy, which was unveiled at this year's BRIT Awards.
Meanwhile, Ed has also unveiled a brand new track ahead of the release of ÷, called Eraser. The song was premiered via an acoustic session with SBTV, which celebrates its tenth anniversary and an outlet Ed credits with getting his career off the ground. Watch below:

The past few months you have had someone new writing your headlines & I think they've come from one of those media outlets that dont care if the headline matches the story as long as it gets clicks. Theres a massive difference between "BETTER" & "BIGGER". Are you trying to make Ed sound arrogant again?
