Ed Sheeran and Elton John's Merry Christmas enters at Number 1 on Official Trending Chart
Plus (a lot) of new Christmas songs, as well as new releases from SZA and Shawn Mendes.
Ed Sheeran and Elton John's Merry Christmas has become the UK's Number 1 Trending Song.
The festive duet - and the duo's first collaboration together - is this week's highest new entry on the Official Trending Chart ahead of its debut on the Official Singles Chart this Friday, where it is currently challenging Adele's Easy On Me for Number 1.
If the song can hold on, it will mark Ed Sheeran’s 12th total Number 1 single, and third this year, and Elton John’s 9th and second this year.
All proceeds made from the song will go to charity, with funds being donated equally between the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and The Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Elsewhere on the chart this week, there is an influx of Christmas songs, mostly taken from Amazon Music's exclusive Originals series for 2021. These include high-risers George Ezra's Come Home For Christmas, Olivia Dean's The Christmas Song and Camila Cabello's I'll Be Home For Christmas, which all jump 10+ places.
They're joined by fellow high-climbers Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande with Santa Can't You Hear Me? Taylor's Swift's Christmas Tree Farm (the Old Timey Version of which is another Amazon exclusive) and Michael Buble's The Christmas Sweater.
New festive entries this week include Summer Walker's take on Marvin Gaye's I Want To Come Home For Christmas, Becky Hill's cover of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Leona Lewis' Kiss Me It's Christmas featuring Ne-Yo, taken from the repackage of her Christmas album Christmas, With Love Always.
However, there are also a host of non-Christmas-related tracks that made an impact on the Official Trending Chart this week. These include SZA's surprise new release I Hate U, which she dropped without prior announcement, Justin Bieber's duet with the late Juice Wrld on Wandered To LA and Shawn Mendes' break-up statement It'll Be Okay.

I love Abba, but that dreadful Little Things track is the worst thing they've ever put out. No surprise it's flopped so far. Just bizarre and disappointing; it really could be the worst non-novelty Christmas song in history.
