Dua Lipa struts ahead to dethrone Dave & Central Cee from Number 1 with Dance The Night

It would be Dua's fourth UK Number 1 single.
dua lipa first look number 1 dance the night

Watch her go! Dua Lipa could finally be the artist to break Dave & Central Cee’s ten-week-long grip on Number 1.

As it stands right now, Barbie disco anthem Dance The Night is predicted to climb two to the top spot, potentially gifting Dua her fourth UK Number 1 single, following New Rules, One Kiss with Calvin Harris and Cold Heart with Elton John. Dance The Night would mark Dua's first solo UK Number 1 single since New Rules nearly five years ago.

But it's by no means a done deal yet. Dua could face a familiar challenger in a fellow Barbie: The Album artist, as Billie Eilish's emotional and contemplative ballad What Was I Made For? is kicking at her heels (2), with less than 1,000 chart units separating the Top 2 at the midweek mark. Could this go down to the wire?

Olivia Rodrigo could see bad idea right? (4) from forthcoming album GUTS join Vampire (3) in the Top 5, and claim this week’s highest new entry.

Calvin Harris & Sam Smith’s Desire could become the duo’s second Top 10 hit together (7), while Becky Hill and Chase & Status are also set to rise with Disconnect (8).

fred again..’s i adore u could become the highest-peaking single yet from the Mercury Prize-nominated DJ and producer, eyeing up a debut of Number 11.

Anne-Marie & Shania Twain are once again trying to lasso another new peak for Unhealthy (16) and finally, Chase & Status, Bou and Flowdan could enter the Top 20 with massive banger Baddadan (20).

the real reason why Sprinter it dropped to #12 from top by Dave & Central Cee is because it been hit by ACR formats this week, (Data cut by over half the units than normal Ratio) that the systems rules, it needs to be scrapped ACR, keep it SCR, Sprinter it by far the most streamed song over the weekend, and would of been in the Top 3 and possible top again for the 11th week, but we have got a Different #1 on Friday.

Chart Update 13/08/2023 (NOW REPLACING RATINGS WITH MOVEMENTS)

I know I didn't bother making a review on Friday but, what did you expect? NOTHING HAPPENED LAST WEEK. The only new hits were Doja Cat rewinding our expectations, and another Travis Scott album cut, so there wasn't much to cheer about. Thankfully, this week sees some more unusual outcomes.

20. Chase & Status ft. Every MC in Britain - Baddadan (up 1) And thus, God shalt allow thy drum'n'bass masters to rule over thy chart kingdom for weeks to come. Expect the inevitable Ed Sheeran collaborations by October.

19. Tom Grennan - How Does It Feel (up 3) Don't even talk to me.

18. Ryan Gosling - I'm Just Ken (down 5) Nice knowing Ken while it lasted. The only problem is, which Ken 'is' singing this?

17. D.O.D. - So Much In Love (down 1) Amongst all the silence penetrating our lives last week, this song clattered its way back into the Top 20. I just wish it wasn't logjammed into the Radio 1 playlist like a rash.

16. Anne-Marie & Shania Twain - UNHEALTHY (up 2) PLEASE. GO. AWAY.

15. Jorja Smith - Little Things (down 1) The year is 3047. Robots have become the dominant species. The human population is now less than a million. Jorja Smith is still trying to get into the Top 10.

14. Gunna - fookoomean (down 6) Every week Gunna pretends to slip away from the hit parade, but by Friday, he is always still amongst it. It's almost like the streaming data that is the main source of the chart, can't be discovered until the 11th hour. Weird.

13. Charli XCX - Speed Drive (down 2) Charli fell out of the Top 10 last time out. That is all.

12. Dave & Central Cee - Sprinter (down 11 because of ACR) I would go into great lengths about how there is FINALLY a different song at the top now, but I'll save the hysterics for when Friday rolls around. The only question is, who actually wants it?

11. Fred Again../Obongjayar - Adore U (NEW) And in other news, Fred Again keeps doing better and better with every song he makes. That fanbase just can't get enough of it. And if you saw him at Glastonbury, you'll know what I'm talking about.

10. Nathan Dawe/Joel Corry/Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN (non-mover) Leave.

9. Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice - Barbie World (down 4) And now we contemplate the most agregious of debates. Is the Barbie fad dying out? We'll see.

8. Becky Hill/Chase & Status - Disconnect (up 1) Becky Hill fought her way into the Top 10 last week, which is hardly surprising, but when you do it with a song that doesn't make me want to spit out parts of my gums for 3 minutes straight, that's quite an achievement.

7. Calvin Harris & Sam Smith - Desire (up 5) There's a music video out for this now, and it will probably give this song the boost it needs. Miracle 2.0 is here, and there's nothing we can do about it.

6. Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana (non-mover) Can you tell I'm grasping for straws with this analysis?

5. Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer (up 2) Nothing to say here, apart from 1989 (TV) being announced, and the sounds of millions of people who partied to Shake It Off and Blank Space attempting to buy a time machine so they can listen to it. Last time I checked, only Elon Musk can buy one at the present time. And he's too busy destroying X(Twitter) to care about THAT.

4. Olivia Rodrigo - bad idea, right? (NEW) Now then. O-Rod's attempts to sound different may have been taken too literally here, as this song wants to demonstrate. I'm not kidding when I say that this song sounds like something Wet Leg would throw away for being 'too annoying'. I like it though.

3. Olivia Rodrigo - vampire (up 1) Meanwhile, her old song refuses to go away, in an act of sisterhood not seen since, well, I was gonna say the Women's World Cup, but that's an ongoing tournament, so...

2. Billie Eilish - What Was I Made For? (non-mover) Welp. Billie's been shafted.

1. Dua Lipa - Dance The Night (up 2) And with that, Dua Lipa looks set to achieve a fourth UK No.1, and her first as LEAD ARTIST since New Rules in 2017. And honestly, I am perfectly fine with the dancefloor diva of the decade doing the dirty work. Do it, Dua!

But yeah. I'm done here. Peace out.

(P.S. No, me not uploading on Friday had nothing to do with Cian Ducrot getting a No.1 album, alright? I was busy supporting Manchester City in the Premier League, and I just didn't notice, alright? Leave me be.)

they need to scrap ACR, (keep it SCR, as the charts is meant to be songs that are the most brought and streamed songs of the week) Sprinter, would be been in the Top 3 again and possible #1 for 11 week straight, as it was by far the most streamed song over the weekend, so it a new or different Top Hit on Friday.

Glad to see ‘Vampire’ staying above ‘Bad Idea Right?’.

The former is a MUCH better Olivia song for me.
