It's Training Season for Dua Lipa, whose announced a brand new single to drop in the next few weeks.

We've already been hypnotised by the 70s psychedelic rush of Houdini, and it seems plans are in motion for Dua's third album, Radical Optimism, which is due for release later this year.

Just announced, Dua revealed to fans that the next single from the record, Training Season, will arrive Feb 15 via Warner. It stands to reason that the track will follow in Houdini's footsteps, because we know that Dua does love some sonic cohesion.

See the (very good) cover for Training Season below. Cheryl Cole-core!

In a statement announcing the track's release, Dua said the genesis of Training Season came about after a "string of bad dates," where she met songwriter Caroline Ailin (with whom she's co-written New Rules and Don't Start Now, amongst others) and Tobias Jesso Jr (who has worked with everyone from Adele to Sia) and declared that "training season is over."

"While [the song]  is obviously about that feeling when you are just absolutely done telling people…men specifically in this case, how to date you right; it is also about my training season being over and me growing with every experience," Dua explains.

"I have never felt more confident, clear or empowered. And while it may be that training season is never over for any of us, you start to see the beauty in finding that person to experience it with. You stop looking for the trainees and become more interested in having someone where you are and someone to grow with.”

After securing her 4th UK Number 1 single last year with Barbie anthem Dance The Night, Dua stated to tease her forthcoming 3rd LP in earnest at the tail end of 2023.

Produced by rave maestro Danny L Harle and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker (who have apparently worked on most of the tracks for the album), Houdini was another brave pivot for Dua, a confident stomp on the enshrined disco vibes of Future Nostalgia, and a bold move forward into another new direction.

Debuting at Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart (where it was denied the top spot by Jack Harlow's Lovin On Me), Houdini has so far spent six weeks inside the UK Top 10, and currently charts at Number 9, limbering up for a comeback post-Christmas.

As for what we can expect from the new record, Dua recently revealed that her third studio album will be heavily inspired by British rave culture, and artists like Primal Scream and Massive Attack.

Duadelica, anyone?
