Drake's More Life breaks global Apple Music and Spotify records in just 24 hours
Drizzy's smashing records like they're going out of fashion.
In news as juicy as his Passionfruit, Drake has been smashing streaming records across the world with his new release More Life.
The 22-track collection - described by Drizzy as a playlist - has broken the record he set with Views on Apple Music, and has achieved the highest first day streams ever recorded for an album. 89.9m global plays were received during More Life's first 24 hours of public release. Incredible, right?
It gets better for the Canadian. Over on Spotify, Drake has achieved the same record on the Swedish streaming platform, with 61,302,082 tallied over Day 1, a new peak for the service. Coupling More Life's tracklisting with other hits Drake's back catalogue, the megastar has also totalled the most one day streams for any artist in history with 76,355,041, bettering a record set by Ed Sheeran just a few weeks ago by some 8 million plays; Ed's total after the release of ÷ was 68,695,172.

More Life is Drake's 13th musical project thus far in his career, a back catalogue that includes studio albums, mixtapes, compilations and an EP. His fourth studio album Views peaked at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart in 2016.
More Life is expected to chart highly on this week's Official Albums Chart following its release on March 18. Although labelled as a playlist by Drake himself, More Life is also available to purchase on iTunes, and is listed as an album across that platform and all streaming outlets. More Life will also receive a physical release in the coming weeks.
One official single trailed More Life's release - the track Fake Love peaked at Number 9 on the Official Singles Chart. Like his 15-week Number 1 hit One Dance, Fake Love did not receive an official music video.

Would it not make sense to restrict album tracks from the singles chart? If a song has officially been released as a single a la Shape of You and Castle on the Hill then let them chart, if it's just an album track then discount it. Have a separate Album Track chart. Have a rule that states a single can only be lifted from an album every two months after the album's release and no more than two tracks each time - with as many "taster" singles lifted from it prior to release but again two months apart. That would sort out this farcical deluge we're currently seeing.
