Doja Cat’s Paint the Town Red wins straight month at Number 1 despite competition from Kenya Grace’s breakthrough hit Strangers

Doja Cat secures a straight month at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Paint the Town Red. 

Despite tough competition from newcomer Kenya Grace’s breakthrough hit Strangers, which hits a new peak of Number 2 today, Paint the Town Red holds strong at the top and is once again the most-streamed track of the week in the UK, with 6 million streams over the last seven days. 

Also on the rise this week, cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe’s Prada rises one to a brand-new high (3), while Tate McRae’s juddering break-up anthem greedy jumps three (5). It’s the Canadian star’s second Top 5 hit, following 2020’s Number 3-peaking lockdown anthem you broke me first. 

Outside the Top 10, Sonny Fodera, MK and Clementine Douglas’s Asking rebounds one (14), South African star Tyla secures her first UK Top 20 hit with Water, flying eight places (16) as Burna Boy’s City Boys jumps five to a new peak (17). 

Nines’ Daily Duppy for GRM Daily debuts at Number 20, becoming the Harlesden MC’s fifth Top 40 entry. Not far behind is Tom Odell’s Black Friday, also new at Number 21, which marks the singer-songwriter’s fourth Top 40 single. 

Further down, pop-punk innovators Blink-182 celebrate their 12th Top 40 single – and their highest-charting since 2004’s Down – with ONE MORE TIME at Number 28. Doja Cat’s Agora Hills enters at Number 29, while DJ Billy Gillies and Hannah Boleyn rise three to Number 30 with DNA (Loving You).  

Headie One and K-Trap score two Top 40 entries today, following the release of their Top 5 collaborative mixtape STRENGTH TO STRENGTH. TRIPLE THREAT with Clavish debuts at Number 31, while PARK CHINOIS lifts eleven to Number 39. 

Finally, US alt-pop scion Mitski gains her first-ever Top 40 single today with My Love Mine All Mine, this week’s big riser, rocketing 29 places to Number 34.
