Disney's Encanto soundtrack becomes best-selling album of the year so far in the UK with seven weeks atop Official Compilations Chart
Disney's Encanto soundtrack continues its massive chart success in the UK, netting a seventh consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Compilations chart.
It's another massive week for Encanto, as the Official Charts Company can also confirm today that the motion picture soundtrack now becomes the UK's best-selling album of 2022 so far.
Remaining at Number 1 on the UK’s Official Compilation Albums Chart for the seventh week running, the compilation has already racked up combined chart sales of 93,000 units in 2022, more than any artist album from the likes of Adele, Ed Sheeran or The Weeknd during the same period. Tracks from the album have been streamed 180 million times so far in the UK this year.
Encanto has proven to be the musical breakthrough hit of the year so far - with the soundtrack's hit single We Don't Talk About Bruno currently in its fourth week atop the Official Singles Chart, making it the longest-running Number 1 of the year so far.

This comes just weeks after We Don't Talk About Bruno - the breakthrough smash of the soundtrack - became the first-ever original Disney song to hit Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.
A tale as old as time, Disney music has a long history on the Official Chart, with many notable hits breaking the Top 40, including songs from Frozen, Beauty & The Beast, The Lion King, Pocahontas, High School Musical and more. Gareth Gates' cover version of Suspicious Minds from the soundtrack to sci-fi comedy animation Lilo & Stitch reached the top spot back in October 2002, but We Don't Talk About Bruno from Encanto claims the title of the first original Number 1 Disney hit.
The soundtrack has also birthed a further two Top 10 hits in the form of eldest sister anxiety anthem Surface Pressure by Jessica Darrow, and The Family Madrigal, the introductory song to Encanto's central magical family.
This week, Encanto also reached Number 1 on the Official Film Chart, following its official physical and video-on-demand release, after weeks of musical dominance.
