Dermot Kennedy releases new single Giants
Van Morrison cover Days Like This features as Side B on Giants' upcoming vinyl release.
Dermot Kennedy has released his brand new single Giants.
The Dubliner's new song - available now to download and stream - took inspiration from What if 2020 Isn’t Cancelled?’ by Leslie Dwight. Dreams has been added to Dermot's debut album Without Fear on streaming services as the opening track.
"Change hurts and growing hurts. Giants is a song about just that, steeped in bittersweet nostalgia," Dermot said of the track. "It’s about acknowledging our loss of youth and how time inevitably changes things. Yet in the same breath the song is an encouragement to be brave – individually, and collectively.
"Walking into an unknown future together can be beautiful just as much as it is scary. As events have unfolded over the last few months and have at times felt hopeless, this song has carried me through as a reminder that the future is still full of hope and there is opportunity in the darkness and a brighter future can await."
Giants is available to pre-order now on 7" vinyl. Side B features the studio version of Days Like This, the Van Morrison song he performed on RTÉ One's The Late Late Show in April.
Dermot's debut album Without Fear debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart in October, becoming 2019's second fastest-selling album behind Westlife's Spectrum. Without Fear was also the fifth fastest-selling album of the last decade.
