French DJ/producer David Guetta can celebrate today as it is all change at the top of the Official Singles Chart since Wednesday’s Official Chart Update half-time scores.

Guetta FT Sia’s euphoric club smash Titanium overtakes Alyssa Reid’s Alone Again by more than 9,000 copies to become the UK’s Official Number 1 single of the week and the fifth UK Number 1 single of the world famous DJ’s career.

Titanium is the fifth single to be taken from Guetta’s hit studio album Nothing But The Beat, an album packed with all star collaborations featuring the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jessie J and Will.I.Am, which peaked at Number 2 upon its release last summer. ‘King of Collaborations’ Guetta appeared twice in the list of 2011’s biggest selling collaborations, as published by theofficialcharts.com in November here.

The track was co-written with Australian singer/songwriter Sia, David said:

“Working with pure talent is all I crave.  When Sia wrote Titanium on my beat and laid the vocal it was intended to be for another singer.  But the emotion and quality couldn’t be beaten.  To be Number 1 with her is a special moment.”

“The song has been voted by ‘arms in the air’ wherever I play worldwide; it’s a genuine club anthem – and now top of the UK charts.  Wow.”

Guetta has proven himself to be the go-to producer for dancefloor-friendly pop bangers, and last year topped DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ poll.  He is currently nominated for two Grammy Awards and Best International Male at this month’s Brit Awards

New entries and movers

18 year old Canadian newcomer Alyssa Reid who was leading the singles race at the midweek point, today lands in a respectable second place.  Her first UK single release Alone Again FT Jump Smokers is based on the song Alone by ‘80s American rockers Heart, which reached Number 3 in 1987.
Alyssa’s version of the song went to Number 3 in her native Canada upon its release, where it stayed in the charts for seven months.  The track is taken from debut studio album The Game, and features guest rapper P.Reign.

The increasingly popular Gotye FT Kimbra’s Somebody That I Used To Know continues its unrelenting ascent up the chart, climbing four places to Number 3.  The track by the Australian-Belgian singer/songwriter today claims its highest chart position to date, having consistently climbed and climbed throughout its five weeks on the chart.  The song has also amassed an enormous 61 million hits on YouTube to date.

Highest climbers so far this week in the singles race are David Guetta FT Nicki Minaj’s Turn Me On, catapulting 87 places to Number 33.  Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts, climbs 15 places to Number 22, and Ed Sheeran’s Drunk rises 14 places to this week’s Number 15.
