Daft Punk look set to spend a third week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart as Get Lucky approaches half a million sales!
Daft Punk’s chart topping run with Get Lucky shows no sign of letting up anytime soon.
The French robots, who shot to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart two weeks ago look set to spend a third week on top, according to the latest Official Charts Company sales data.
2013’s disco-tinged summer anthem Get Lucky, which features N.E.R.D’s Pharrell Williams and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers, has already become Daft Punk’s biggest UK hit to date, overtaking their 2000 Number 2 smash One More Time by selling a cool 369,000 copies up to midnight Saturday. And, with a further 58,000 copies sold up to midnight last night (Tuesday, May 7), it is well on course to break the half-a-million copies sales barrier before the week is over.
Meanwhile, the domination of dance acts continues at Number 2. After being championed as Pete Tong’s “Essential New Tune” as well as endorsements a-plenty from the likes of Zane Lowe and Annie Mac, Ministry-signed New York-based DJ and producer Chris Malinchak is hot on Daft Punk’s heels this week with his laid-back summery house track, So Good To Me (2).
Rudimental slide one place to Number 3 this week with theirformerNumber 1, Waiting All Night FT Ella Eyre, while Passenger – AKA UK singer/songwriter Mike Rosenberg – holds firm at Number 4 with Let Her Go. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Can't Hold Us FT Dalton complete this week’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 5.

Gabrielle Aplin is new in at Number 19 with Panic Cord, the third Top 20 single taken from her upcoming debut album, English Rain, which is released next week, while Jazmine Sullivan’s 2008 single, Bust Your Windows (40), is set to make its Official Top 40 debut on Sunday following 17 year old Letitia Grant-Brown’s performance of it on The Voice over the weekend.
The Voice is also responsible for Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car re-entering this week’s Official Singles Chart Update. The US singer’s 1988 Top 5 hit leaps 55 places from 87 to Number 32 following Brett Davison’s rendition on the show.
