Daft Punk on track for another massive week at Number 1
Daft Punk on track to Get Lucky for another massive week at Number 1
The robots are showing no signs of retreat!
Reigning chart toppers Daft Punk are eyeing chart domination, as Get Lucky looks set to bulldoze through the 100,000 sales barrier once again this week on the Official Singles Chart.
Up to midnight last night, the unstoppable French dance duo’s track, featuring Pharrell Williams and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers had raked in sales of 71,000 copies this week, comfortably outselling closest rival Rudimental (2) by two copies to one and putting Daft Punk easily on track for another huge week on top of the Official Singles Chart.
Former Number 1, Rudimental FT Ella Eyre’s Waiting All Night is riding at Number 2, while Thrift Shop stars Macklemore & Ryan Lewis gain two places since Sunday with latest single Can’t Hold Us (3). UK singer/songwriter Passenger also continues his ascent, up seven places and breaking into the Top 5 midweek at Number 4. Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s I Need Your Love complete this week’s Official Chart Update Top 5.
New entries and climbers
This week’s highest new entry comes courtesy of Disclosure FT Eliza Doolittle (10) with You & Me. If the electronic siblings can maintain their current performance into the weekend, Disclosure will score their second Top 10 hit of the year, following the success of White Noise (featuring AlunaGeorge) which peaked at Number 2 earlier in the year.
A young Liverpool teenager who tragically lost his life last September following a coach crash on the way home from Bestival festival could be heading for the Official Chart Top 40 this Sunday. Michael Molloy, 18, was one of three people who died in the tragedy, and now a song Rise And Fall, which was written by Michael a year earlier and recorded by Michael’s friend, band mate and musical collaborator Alex Evans, is at Number 26 in today’s Official Chart Update. The track has been released by organisers of Bestival, on their label Sunday Best Recordings. More on this story can be found here.
And finally, Misha B is set for a third Top 40 hit with Here’s To Everything (Ooh La La), new in today at Number 31.
