In a nailbiting 59th Eurovision Grand Final in Copenhagen, one of the most talked-about contestants in years, Conchita Wurst, took home the prize for Austria, seeing off favourites Sweden, Armenia and popular Netherlands.
Here's the moment Conchita discovered the prize belonged to Austria:
Conchita’s song Rise Like A Phoenix, gained popularity in the last week before Eurovision 2014, and a rousing semi-final performance on Thursday ensured that Conchita was the contestant with the biggest following – and the most headlines.
It was a close race between Conchita, Netherlands’ Common Linnets and Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen, but in the end, with 290 points. Conchita gave Austria their first win in an incredible 48 years! They last won in 1966.
The UK’s Molly didn’t do as well as hoped – her song Children Of The Universe finished in 17th place.
In last place were French group Twin Twin, whose song Mustache scored only two points. So facial hair was represented at each end of the leaderboard! But Conchita's beard isn't the reason for Austria's victory – check out the performance…
So we guess we’ll see you in Austria next year! Well done Conchita!
