Collabro look set to end Ed Sheeran’s Official Albums Chart reign
Britain’s Got Talent winners leading the race to this week's Number 1 album.
Collabro look set to bring Ed Sheeran’s eight week run at Number 1 to an end this Sunday with their debut album, Stars.
The vocal group – Michael Auger, Richard Hadfield, Jamie Lambert, Matt Pagan and Thomas Redgrave – are from all over England, and met online in January of this year. Collabro shot to fame after competing in, and winning, ITV’s hit reality TV talent contest, Britain’s Got Talent. They were subsequently snapped up by head judge Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco.
According to the Official Charts Company’ssales data, Stars is currently outselling its closest rivals, Concrete Love by Manchester indie rockers The Courteeners (Number 2), by more than two copies to one.
Meanwhile Ed Sheeran’s X slides two places to Number 3 on today’s Official Albums Chart Update. Twin Atlantic are on track for their highest charting album to date. The Scottish rockers’ third album, Great Divide, is new in at Number 4 today, while Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour (Number 5) completes today’s Top 5.
New Entries
In addition to Collabro’s Stars (Number 1), The Courteeners’ Concrete Love (Number 2), and Twin Atlantic’s Great Divide (4), there are six other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart Update.
US rockers Blackberry Smoke enter at 16 with their new live album, Leave A Scar. Whiz Khalifa enters at 19 today with Blacc Hole, while Imogen Heap is at 23 with her new album, Sparks.
London-based metallers DragonForce enter at 24 with their sixth studio album, Maximum Overload, while Luke Sital-Singh’s The Fire Inside (30) and The Magic Numbers’ Alias (39) complete today’s new entries.
