Cheryl on track for fifth UK Number 1 with I Don’t Care

Cheryl SHOULD care as she is set to score her fifth Official Singles Chart Number 1 this weekend with new track I Don’t Care.

The song is the second to be lifted from Cheryl’s upcoming fourth solo studio album Only Human, following Number 1 Crazy Stupid Love FT Tinie Tempah.

I Don’t Care has sold over 49,000 copies in the UK so far this week, and if its sales momentum continues into the weekend, will not only mark Cheryl’s tenth Number 1 in total (including four chart toppers with Girls Aloud and her appearance on the 2010 charity cover of R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts for Helping Haiti), but will also make her the British female with the most Number 1 singles in history (5), overtaking current record sharers Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora.

Sliding one place to Number 2 at this midweek stage is Ed Sheeran with current Number 1 Thinking Out Loud. When it topped the chart on Sunday, Thinking Out Loud became the single with the longest ascent from entering the Top 40 to Number 1 in Official Chart history.

Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass drops one place to 3, and following his The X Factor performance this weekend, John Legend’s All Of Me rockets 22 places to the Number 4 spot today.

Rounding out the Top 5 today is Taylor Swift with Shake It Off (5).

New entries

Other than Cheryl’s I Don’t Care (Number 1), there are five new entries in today’s Official Singles Chart Top 40.

Calvin Harris is new at 14 with Outside FT Ellie Goulding, the latest track to be lifted from the DJ/producer’s new album Motion, which currently sits at the Official Albums Chart Number 1 spot.

Irish trio The Script are on track for their 12th Top 40 with new single No Good In Goodbye (18), as Nicki Minaj is set for her 22nd Top 40 with Only FT Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown (26).

Estonia-born producer Henry Krinkle is set to make his Official Singles Chart debut this weekend with Stay (27) while British soul singer Joss Stone is set to return to the chart after more than seven years with Official Poppy Appeal single No Man’s Land (Green Fields Of France) FT Jeff Beck (40).
