Listen to two new Charli XCX songs as she unveils tracklist for new album Brat
Charli XCX has just dropped two new tracks, alongside the tracklist and release date for her upcoming album, Brat.
Club classics and B2b, the two new bangers Charli debuts today, are soaked in the hazy electronics of club culture, much like the record's sleek lead, Von dutch (she's just living that life!).
Of the two, Club classics definitely sounds like a new cousin of Vroom Vroom era Charli (the era most venerated by her fans and, let's be honest, Charli herself), while B2b's squelchy synth-line sounds like a melding of her influential debut True Romance with the forward-facing Pop 2 mixtape.
And we now know that Brat will arrive fully-formed on June 7 and contain 15 tracks. Charli has collaborated with the likes of Easyfun, her partner George Daniel of the 1975 and A.G Cook.
We've also heard a preview of Brat's ninth track, So I, which is an emotional synth-pop cut which pays tribute to Charli's friend and collaborator, the late and much-missed SOPHIE (with So I also sampling SOPHIE's 2017 single It's Okay To Cry).
As things stand, Charli's run-up to Brat is shaping up quite nicely. Von dutch has (so far) peaked at Number 26 on the Official Singles Chart and is currently sitting at Number 27, bouncing back into the Top 40 following the release of a viral remix with A.G Cook and Addison Rae.
Last year, Charli's high-velocity addition to the Barbie soundtrack, Speed Drive, crashed up to Number 9 in the UK, becoming her 6th UK Top 10 hit, and first as lead artist since 2015.
Of course in 2022, CRASH became Charli's first UK Number 1 album. Can Brat repeat that trick?
