Celine Dion has announced that she has put her music career on hiatus ‘indefinitely’.
The singer has cancelled all her upcoming concert dates - including her Vegas shows and Asia tour - to look after her children and husband, who had a cancerous tumour removed last December.
“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing,” she said in a statement. “And to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children.”
It was also revealed that Celine is battling an illness that has caused “inflammation in her throat muscles”, preventing her from performing her Las Vegas shows since July 29.
The star added: “I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
Celine has been performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Vegas on and off since 2003.
Last year the singer released her 11th English-language album Loved Me Back To Life, which peaked at Number 3 on the Official Albums Chart and includes the Top 20 single of the same name.
