Carly Rae Jepsen on way to becoming one of 2012’s biggest sellers
Carly Rae Jepsen lands a fourth week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, making Call Me Maybe one of the biggest selling singles of 2012.
Carly Rae Jepsen, the relatively unknown Canadian Idol contestant who scored a surprise debut Number 1 three weeks ago with Call Me Maybe, has today landed the top spot on the Official Singles Chart for a fourth week running with another impressive sale of almost 100,000 copies.
Having also shifted in excess of 100,000 units on each of the previous three weeks, Call Me Maybe has by now racked up a tally of 434,000 to date, putting the Canadian pop princess firmly on the way to becoming one of 2012’s biggest sellers, currently riding high at Number 7 in the best sellers of the year to date.
Last week Radio 1’s Official Chart host Reggie Yates presented Carly with her well-deserved Official Singles Chart Number 1 Award. The award is a new initiative by the Official Charts Company in partnership with Radio 1, launched as part of 2012’s celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart. The brushed aluminum trophy is now presented to recognise every new Number 1 single. In case you missed it, here is Carly accepting the award:
