Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's WAP has made quite the splash (!) in America, debuting at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The collaboration lands at summit with 93 million US streams in its first week - the most for any song in its first week of release. The figure comfortably surpasses the previous record holder, 85.3 million for Ariana Grande's 7 Rings.

WAP earns Cardi her fourth US Number 1 after Bodak Yellow (2017), I Like It ft. Bad Bunny and J. Balvin (2018) and Girls Like You with Maroon 5 (2018). For Megan, it becomes her second following Savage earlier this year.

The track, which also notched up 125,000 US downloads in its first week, has proved controversial with a number of Republican politicians, including James P. Bradley, who said it made him "want to pour holy water in my ears and I feel sorry for future girls if this is their role model!" Cardi's response? “I can’t believe conservatives soo mad about WAP”.

Carol Baskin from hit Netflix documentary Tiger King and founder of a big cat sanctuary criticised the song's "lurid" video in an interview with Billboard, adding: “The worst part is that it glamorizes the idea of rich people having tigers as pets.” Cardi's response? “I’m not gonna engage with Carole Baskin on that. Like, that’s just ridiculous you know? Oh, Lord. Like, girl you killed your goddamn husband.”

On the UK's Official Singles Chart WAP was last week's highest new entry, debuting at Number 4. The entry marks Cardi’s fifth UK Top 10 and Megan’s second – and it’s both their strongest Week 1 debut on the UK chart.

So that is the new number 1 track in the United States, it's not even a catchy tune.
I remember the days when songs like Justify My Love or Erotica were banned during the day, nowadays any kid at any time can watch these factory m() produced dumb soft p*** videos done by very young girls, yeah what a message.
It's not just once one video but all the time an a** on the screen.

The USA Hot 100 is a load of last 10 years...The Streaming % used and added to the song is to high it's like 90% and it should be lowered to about 10 %.....So predictable next week "DRAKE" will be no.1 is getting so stupid....Then the next week the song will fall out of the top 10 ...

Spot on. These songs debut high, a few weeks later, off the charts. Calling them songs (sic) is a stretch.
