It's the X Factor vs. The Voice as Ella Henderson goes head-to-head with Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill in this week's Number 1 race.
The race for this week’s Number 1 is officially on as Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill pull into poleposition on today’s Official Singles Chart Update.
19 year-old Dutch house producer, Oliver Heldens, has teamed up with The Voice 2012 semi-finalist, Becky Hill, for dance anthem Gecko (Overdrive), which is currently on track to debut at Number 1 on Sunday with a lead of nearly 12,000 copies at this midway stage.
While Oliver Heldens is a relative newcomer to the UK charts, Becky Hill has previously worked with chart favourites Rudimental, as well featuring on Wilkinson’s Top 10 hit, Afterglow.
However, Gecko (Overdrive) faces stiff competition from current chart-topper, Ella Henderson’s Ghost (Number 2 today) which reclaimed the top spot in the eleventh hour last week by a margin of just 3,000 copies, after an intense chart battle with 5 Seconds Of Summer.
Ed Sheeran’s Sing holds firm at Number 3 on today’s Update, followed by new entries; Example’s One More Day (Stay With Me) (4) and Usher’s Good Kisser (5), set to give both artists their highest charting singles in two years.
New Entries
Further to Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill’s Gecko (Overdrive) (Number 1), Example’s One More Day (Stay With Me) (4) and Usher’s Good Kisser (5), there are five more new entries on today’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40.
American pop singer/songwriter, Austin Mahone’s Mmm Yeah FT Pitbull enters the chart at Number 25, while Dimitri Vegas, Martin Garrix and Like Mike’s Tremor is at 27.
Following the release of his new album, X, Ed Sheeran has a total of five tracks in today’s Update, with three new entries, Thinking Out Loud (20), Don’t (31) and Photograph (34), joining Sing (3) and One (21).
