Can Morrissey topple Ed Sheeran from the Official Albums Chart summit?
World Peace Is None Of Your Business is set to become this week’s highest new albums entry.
Ed Sheeran faces competition from Morrissey in the race to Number 1 on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
According to the Official Charts Company’s sales data, the 23-year-old singer/songwriter’s new studio album, X, is currently in pole position on today’s Update. However, Morrissey’s critically acclaimed, tenth solo album, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, is close behind with just 6,000 copies in it at this midway stage.
Sam Smith’s former chart topper, In The Lonely Hour (up one place to Number 3), trades places with Dolly Parton’s Blue Smoke (down one to 4), while London-based band Jungle look set to debut at Number 5 with their self-titled debut album.
New Entries
In addition to Morrissey’s World Peace Is None Of Your Business (Number 1) and Jungle’s Jungle (5), there are four other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart Update.
Judas Priest look set to score their highest charting UK album in 34 years. The legendary heavy metal band’s 17th studio effort, Redeemer Of Souls, is currently at Number 8 on today’s Official Albums Chart Update. If they can hold on through to Sunday, it will become only their third Top 10 album on home turf, and highest charting album since the iconic British Steel, which peaked at Number 4 back in 1980.
Elsewhere, US political punks Rise Against are also on for a personal best with The Black Market (9), their previous best chart performance came courtesy of 2011’s Endgame which finished at Number 27.
And finally, Jason Mraz’s Yes! (12) and Slow Club’s Complete Surrender (32) complete this week’s new entries.
