Can Harry Styles' Sign Of The Times dethrone Ed Sheeran on this week’s Official Singles Chart?
Seven songs could impact the Top 40 for the first time this Friday.
Is the number 13 unlucky for Ed Sheeran? After 13 weeks at Number 1 with Shape Of You, there’s a strong chance he could be knocked off the top spot on this Friday’s Official Singles Chart.
Vying for pole position this week is Harry Styles’ debut solo single, Sign Of The Times. The One Direction star is the fourth from the band to embark on a solo career, and could be the second to score a Number 1 single, following in the footsteps of Zayn Malik, who entered at the top of the Official Singles Chart in January 2016 with Pillowtalk.
According to Official Chart Update data available so far this week, Harry’s Sign Of The Times has shifted 30,000 copies across all formats, leading his nearest rival by two to one; but the star is by no means home and dry, it could still be all change at the top by Friday’s Official Chart.
Ed Sheeran trails Harry at Number 2 with Galway Girl as opposed to his massive Number 1 single Shape of You. Should Galway Girl hold onto the runner-up slot, it will mark the track’s sixth consecutive week in second place.
New entries and high climbers
Julia Michaels’ Issues continues to climb, with a two slot rise to Number 8 on the cards, while Little Mix are also on the up with No More Sad Songs, sitting just outside the Top 10 today at Number 11.
Rag’n’Bone Man’s Skin could surge to a new high of Number 15 this Friday, while dance collective Disciples could bag their first Top 40 entry since their Number 2 Calvin Harris hook-up How Deep Is Your Love from July 2015; On My Mind has shot from 81 to 18 so far this week.
Following the release of its video on TIDAL to celebrate her wedding anniversary to Jay Z, Beyonce’s Die With You is set to make its Top 40 debut this week, currently at 22. Martin Solveig’s Places could crack the Top 40 on its sixth week on chart, rising 18 places to 24, and Cheat Codes’ latest offering No Promises featuring Demi Lovato lifts from last week’s 54 to Number 29 today.
Finally, two songs are hoping to crack the Top 40 for the very first time this week. Stargate’s Waterfall featuring P!nk and Sia is at 37 today, while Louisa Johnson’s Best Behaviour sits at Number 40.
