Ellie Goulding could be set to spend her third consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart this weekend with Burn.
The track, which is taken from the deluxe edition of her second album Halcyon, knocked Miley Cyrus’ We Can’t Stop off the top of the chartearlier this month to give Ellie her first ever UK Number 1 single. According to the Official Charts Company’s sales data, there is currently 4,500 copies between Burn and Avicii’s former chart topper, Wake Me Up (Number 2).
Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine) by Klangkarussell FT Will Heard holds firm at Number 3 today, while Rizzle Kicks score this week’s highest new entry with Lost Generation (4). The video for the track was produced by 150 young people aged between 16 and 24 as part of O2’s Go Think Big training scheme.
Meanwhile, the Cedric Gervais remix of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness is a non-mover at Number 5.
New Entries and High Climbers
In addition to Rizzle Kicks’ Lost Generation (Number 4), there are four other new entries on today’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40.
Former Westlife vocalist Shane Filan is on course for his first Top 10 single as a solo artist this weekend with Everything To Me (Number 7), while The 1975 are new in at Number 26 with Sex.
Bastille’s Things We Lost In The Fire (up 14 places to 38) and Olly Murs’ Right Place Right Time (climbing 22 to 39) look set to make their Top 40 debuts this weekend following their official releases on Sunday (August 25).
