Calum Scott has danced his way to the top spot of this week's Official Trending Chart.

Calum's cover of Robyn's 2010 single Dancing On My Own soared into the Top 10 on yesterday's Official Singles Chart Update (July 4), set to hit a new high at Number 8. If he holds on to the position, it will match Robyn's peak position with the song.

Dancing On My Own has been gradually climbing the chart for the last 11 weeks, sitting in the Top 40 for nine of them. Check Dancing On My Own's path to the Trending Chart top spot.

"To take somebody else’s song and to put my interpretation on it and for it to chart higher, that would be a massive privilege," Calum told Official Charts. "I would need her to know how I feel about it though. I wouldn’t want her to think ‘oh, he’s done this, this and this with it’."

The Chainsmokers are another climber on the Trending Chart; their collaboration with Daya Don't Let Me Down is currently in its 10th consecutive week of ascending up the chart and is on track to be the group's highest charting single this Friday (July 8).

Big leaps up the Official Singles Chart for Dua Lipa, Kent Jones and Ariana Grande mean they also climb up the trending tally, as are the likes of Shawn Mendes and Jonas Blue with their latest tracks.

Beyoncé's Hold Up and Rihanna's Sledgehammer are this week's biggest climbers, shooting up over 20 positions each. There's also a big new entry from Fergie - her track M.I.L.F. $ is trending following the premiere of its star studded video featuring cameos from Ciara and Kim Kardashian.

Finally, future chart contenders from Lukas Graham, Kiiara and MO also make the cut as they began to gain ground on streaming services and digital downloads.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart  is a brand new chart launched for 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has already highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 singles Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza and Drake's One Dance.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).
