BRITs Rising Star 2025 nominees announced: Myles Smith, Good Neighbours and Elmiene

The winner will be announced December 5.

The three nominees for the BRITs Rising Star 2025 have been confirmed.

Singer-songwriter Myles Smith, indie-pop duo Good Neighbours and soul vocalist Elmiene lead the charge as the three acts tipped for phenomenal success in 2025 and beyond.

Two of the chosen acts have already experienced success on the Official Chart - Myles Smith has seen himself been marked as a true homegrown success story in this year; earning his first UK Top 10 single with Stargazing (which reached a peak of Number 4), while follow-up single Nice To Meet You became his first to debut inside the Top 20 in November, debuting at Number 12.

As for Good Neighbours (aka Oli Fox and Scott Verrill), they saw slow-burn success with their first entry on the Official Chart, Home, which spent three non-consecutive weeks at its Number 26 peak near the start of the year, and charted within the UK Top 40 for 15 weeks altogether.

Last year saw baroque art-rock quintet The Last Dinner Party be named the BRITs Rising Stars of 2024. It kickstarted a whirlwind year for the group; who earned both their first UK Number 1 album with debut record Prelude To Ecstasy, with David Bowie and Kate Bush-esque lead track Nothing Matters cracking the Top 20, peaking at Number 16.

The BRITs Rising Star award is open to British artists who, as of October 31 2024, have not yet achieved an Official Album Charts Top 20 placing or achieved more than one Top 20 chart placing in the Official Singles Chart.

Reacting to his nomination, Myles Smith said; "I’m incredibly honoured to be nominated for the BRITs Rising Star award. Growing up in Luton, I started playing pubs and open mic nights when I was just 12 and music quickly became my way of understanding the world and connecting with others.

"This recognition feels like a reflection of that journey – the highs, the challenges and the incredible people who’ve supported me along the way. Thank you for seeing me, for listening and for believing in the music. It means the world."

Good Neighbours added; "The BRITs have always been a huge dream for both of us growing up. We started Good Neighbours purely for the fun of it, so to be up for an actual BRIT award at this stage in our career is the biggest honour. Thank you."

Elmiene said he was "extremely grateful" for the nomination and that "it’s like being completely satisfied with a meal you bought and then finding out it comes with dessert and a drink. Didn’t know it could get any better.”

Jack Saunders, the host of the UK's Official Chart, will announce the winner of the BRITs Rising Star 2025 live on his New Music Show on BBC Radio 1 on December 5 at 6pm.
