BRITs Rising Star 2024 nominees announced: Caity Baser, The Last Dinner Party and Sekou
Previous winners include FLO, Sam Smith and Adele.
The nominees for this year's BRITs Rising Star 2024 have been announced.
British pop upstart Caity Baser, indie-rockers The Last Dinner Party and Leicester-born singer-songwriter Sekou are the three acts in the running for the gong, which predicts the act that will be the definitive one to watch across the next calendar year and beyond.
Selected from a panel involving music industry experts and the press, the BRITs 2024 Rising Star Award is open to acts who, as of October 31 2023, have not secured either a Top 20 placement on the Official Albums Chart or the Official Singles Chart.
Last year's winners were the girlband FLO, who went on to secure a debut Top 40 single Fly Girl with Missy Elliot, and are currently working on their debut studio album, due for release next year.

Reacting to her nomination, Caity Baser (whose breakout single Pretty Boys peaked at Number 26, and who can be heard on the remix of Campbell and Alchemist's Would You (Go To Bed With Me?)) says: "When I heard that I've been nominated for the BRITs Rising Star award this year, I literally screamed for 5 minutes and chucked everything around my room!!
"I used to watch the awards on TV every year when I was a kid but had no idea how a kid from an estate in Southampton would ever get there. Now to be shortlisted for the Rising Star award for next year...me! Little old me… All I have to say is I am so happy and thank you so much. It's really a dream come true!”

The Last Dinner Party, comprised of Abigail Morris, Lizzie Mayland, Emily Roberts, Georgia Davies, and Aurora Nishevci are scheduled to release their debut album, Prelude to Ectsasy, next year. They say: "We’re so honoured and thrilled to be nominated for the Rising Star award! It’s very overwhelming and exciting to be up for something as prestigious as a BRIT at this stage in our career and we’re so grateful. We’ve had an amazing year and can’t wait for all that’s to come!”
Born in Leicester but now based in London and LA, 19 year old Sekou got signed to his first label aged 16 and has already played Glastonbury. On the honour of the nomination, he says: "Being nominated for BRITs Rising Star is absolutely crazy. I grew up in a small town and watched the BRITs every single year.
"The performances were always amazing - Adele, Amy, Sam Smith, Beyoncé. I remember being 10 years old when Adele sang ‘Someone Like You’ for the first time and being like… YES that’s gonna be me one day. Don’t even get me started on Beyoncé. I’m so grateful to be considered for this. For me, this feels like God telling me to continue to work harder and keep pushing. Thank you BRITsssssss!!!!"
