BRIT Awards 2022: New categories to be voted by public via TikTok
It's the first time the social media app has partnered with a UK awards show.
The BRIT Awards 2022 will partner with TikTok to power the public vote for several new categories in this year's ceremony, it's been revealed.
As announced last year, for the first time in 2022, the BRITs are introducing four new genre categories, with the winners to be voted for by the public. The categories in full are: Alternative/Rock Act, Dance Act, Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act and Pop/R&B Act.
Now, the British public will be able to vote for the winners of these awards via the TikTok app - this is the first time the popular social media app has powered a UK awards show.
Voters will be able to access a dedicated BRITs hub on TikTok, with voting set to open at 12pm tomorrow (January 20), with voting closing 6pm on February 3.

Most recently, Holly Humberstone was named as the winner of the BRITs Rising Star Award for 2022, beating out competition from Bree Runway and Lola Young.
The 2022 BRIT Awards hit ITV and the ITV Hub on February 8, where they'll be hoested by Mo Gilligan and include genderless categories for the first time ever.
