Ella Eyre, Sam Smith and Chloe Howl have been shortlisted for the 2014 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award.

The BRIT Awards have revealed the shortlist for next year’s Critics’ Choice Award. Ella Eyre, Sam Smith and Chloe Howl are set to do battle for one of the most prestigious prizes in music.

The award, which is chosen by a team of music industry experts has previously launched the careers of Adele, Florence & The Machine, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Emeli Sande and Tom Odell. The over-all winner will be announced next Thursday (December 12).

While 18-year-old Chloe Howl might be a new name to some OfficialCharts.com readers, both Ella Eyre and Sam Smith have already achieved chart success; Ella featured as the guest vocalist on Rudimental’s Official Singles Chart smash Waiting All Night, which reached Number 1 back in April, while Sam Smith has two Top 40 hits to his name. He reached Number 11 last October after featuring on Disclosure’s Latch, and hit Number 1 in June of this year with Naughty Boy with the track La La La. La La La is currently the fifth biggest selling single of 2013 so far, with sales of more than 926,000 copies.

The BRIT Awards 2014 will take place on February 19, at London’s O2 Arena, and will be broadcast live on ITV 1.
