Bring Me The Horizon debut at Number 1 on Official Record Store Chart

Bring Me The Horizon’s latest album, Sempiternal, was the most purchased album in the UK’s independent record stores last week.

Bring Me The Horizon have gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Record Store Chart with their latest album Sempiternal.

The Sheffield band’s hotly anticipated fourth album entered the Official Albums Chart at Number 3 on Sunday, and today it tops the UK’s Official Record Store Chart. The Official Record Store Chart was launched in April of last year by the Official Charts Company and the organizers of Record Store Day UK to reflect sales of the UK’S coolest and most vibrant independent record shops.

David Bowie’s The Next Day holds firm at Number 2, while Brighton indie rockers British Sea Power are new in at Number 3 with their latest album, Machineries Of Joy.

This week’s Top 5 is completed by Bonobo’s The North Borders (Number 4) and The Flaming LipsThe Terror, which is new in at Number 5.

New entries

There are seven other new entries on this week’s Official Record Store Chart. US punks Alkaline Trio’s ninth album, My Shame Is True, enters at Number 6, while The Leisure Society’s Alone Aboard The Ark debuts just outside the Top 10 at Number 11.

Psychedelic rockers The Black Angels enter at 15 with their fourth album Indigo Meadow, Besbard LakesUntil In Excess Imperceptible UFO is at 19, and Imagine DragonsNight Visions, which narrowly missed out on Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart to Justin Timberlake yesterday, is at Number 20.

This week’s new entries are completed by Vanishing Point by Mudhoney (23), and Disarm The Descent by Killswitch Engage (32).
