In what will no doubt be a very meta experience, Bonnie Tyler has been booked to sing her signature hit Total Eclipse Of The Heart during an actual eclipse.

A total solar eclipse is due to take place in the America on August 21 - the first total solar eclipse in the States since 1979.

Tyler is booked as a special guest on the week-long Oasis Of The Seas cruise, which sails from Orlando, in Florida to the Caribbean on August 20. The ship will be positioned in "the path of totality" so her performance will coincide with the eclipse.

Speaking to Time, Tyler said: “It’s going to be so exciting. It doesn’t happen very often, does it?”

The Welsh singer will be joined by Joe Jonas-fronted band DNCE on the cruise. Both acts are planning on rehearsing their sets on board a day before the event itself. “So if anybody hears strange noises coming from my cabin while aboard the ship, they’ll know what it is,” Tyler added.

“I have a ship of my own,” she said of her boating experience and any pre-show nerves. "I go with the flow, darling. I’m not worried about things like that.”

Total Eclipse Of The Heart is Tyler's only Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, logging two weeks at the summit in March 1983. Look back at her full Official Chart history here.
