Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has racked up an eighth UK chart-topper with his 36th studio album Shadows In The Night.

The LP features Dylan’s covers of ten classic pop standards made famous by Frank Sinatra, including I’m A Fool To Want You, That Lucky Old Sun and Full Moon And Empty Arms.

Also marking Dylan’s first newly-recorded collection since 2012’s Top 5 release Tempest, Shadows In The Night outsold its nearest competitor, Ed Sheeran’s X (2), by nearly 5,000 copies this week.

Last week’s Number 1, Meghan Trainor’s Title slides two places to Number 3 today, followed by Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour, holding firm at 4.

Rounding out today’s Top 5 is Irish singer-songwriter Hozier’s eponymous debut (5).

New entries

There are three further new entries in today’s Official Albums Chart Top 40.

US hip hop star Kid Ink scores his second UK Top 40 with Full Speed (10), while Solo Dancing singer Indiana makes her chart debut with No Romeo (17).

Elsewhere, Canadian jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall scores her eighth UK Top 40 with Wallflower (19).

There are two re-entries in today’s Top 40. Dire Straits’ 1985 chart-topping LP Brothers In Arms returns the Top 10 for the first time in almost 30 years at Number 8 and Queen’s 2014 release Queen Forever ends at 35.
