Blossoms' Official biggest singles ever in the UK revealed
The indie-rock band are heading for their fourth UK Number 1 album with Gary.
Blossoms have, in the last decade, became one of Britain's best-known purveyors of indie-rock.
Emerging from the music scene in Stockport, Tom Ogden, Charlie Salt, Josh Dewhurst, Joe Donovan and Myles Kellock have released a total of five albums with their latest, Gary, set to become the five-piece's fourth UK Number 1 album.
For the first time, we've crunched the numbers to reveal Blossoms's biggest songs ever in the UK.
But before we reveal the Top 20 in full, let's take a closer look at the Top 5.
5. I Can't Stand It
Released: 2018
Total UK chart units: 315,000
I Can't Stand it was released as the lead single from the band's second studio album, Cool Like You.
A testament to the rising popularity of Blossoms since the release of their debut, I Can't Stand It still ranks as the band's highest-charting single ever in the UK, peaking at Number 75 on the Official Singles Chart.
4. Honey Sweet
Released: 2016
Total UK chart units: 366,000
The fourth track on Blossoms' self-titled debut, Honey Sweet takes its name as a direct from Oscar Wilde's boundary-pushing classic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, and spins a tale of the potent doom of fading youth.
3. There's A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)
Released: 2018
Total UK chart units: 407,000
There's A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls) was the second single from Cool Like You to reach the Official Singles Chart (a record for the band, ironically Cool Like You is their only album to not debut at Number 1, instead peaking at Number 4) and the music video takes direct inspiration from The Beatles' 1964 film A Hard Day's Night, seeing the band traipse around Tokyo.
2. Your Girlfriend
Released: 2019
Total UK chart units: 503,000
Your Girlfriend, the lead cut from 2020 record Foolish Loving Spaces - was, according to Tom Ogden, composed after he watched a TV show in which someone admitted their love for their friend's girlfriend. Ogden also revealed he was listening to a lot of Talking Heads while making the track, which you can definitely hear in the end result.
1. Charlemagne
Released: 2015
Total UK chart units: 980,000
Of course, it would have to be Charlemagne to take the top spot here. Not only is the dance-ready rock tune probably the band's best known song, it was also responsible for exposing Blossoms to a much wider audience.
Accumulating 980,000 total UK chart units, Charlemagne (named after the famous French king, who united most of Western and Central Europe under his rule, following the collapse of the Roman Empire, yes we know just as much about history as we do the charts!) is by and far Blossoms' most successful song in the UK.
According to Official Charts Company data, Charlemagne has also hit the threshold of 51,000 digital downloads and 99 million combined streams in the UK.

What a shame the Chase and Status collaboration didn't do much. No surprise that 'charlemagne' is top here, it's one of those tracks that just needs something to throw it in the limelight and it will be a huge hit even now years later. They still push out good music and I enjoy what they put out.
