Rising star Billie Eilish looks set to land her big breakthrough as her latest release Bury A Friend debuts at Number 1 on the Official Trending Chart.
The track lands at the summit of the Top 20 chart, which is based on songs climbing up the Official Singles Chart since the previous Friday.
The 17-year-old US singer-songwriter dropped the haunting track last Wednesday (Jan. 30) as the lead single from her forthcoming album, called When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? - a line referenced in Bury A Friend. The song is on track to debut inside the Top 10 on this week's singles chart.
"When we made Bury a Friend, the whole album clicked in my head," Billie said of the song. "I immediately knew what it was going to be about, what the visuals were going to be, and everything in terms of how I wanted it to be perceived. It inspired what the album is about.
Bury a Friend’ is literally from the perspective of the monster under my bed. If you put yourself in that mindset, what is this creature doing or feeling? I also confess that I’m this monster, because I’m my own worst enemy. I might be the monster under your bed too."
Eilish wrote and produced her upcoming collection with her brother Finneas in their childhood home of Highland Park, Los Angeles. Read more about Billie Eilish and her success so far here.
