Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro are on course for their first ever Number 1 album this Sunday with Opposites, according to today’s Official Albums Chart Update.

Biffy Clyro look set to score their first ever Number 1 album this weekend with Opposites.

The Kilmarnock trio - frontman Simon Neil and twin brothers James and Ben Johnston (bass and drums, respectively) – currently have a seemingly uncatchable lead of nearly 30,000 copies on reigning chart topper, the Motion Picture Cast Recording of Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of Les Miserables (Number 2).

If Biffy can maintain their lead through to Sunday’s final whistle, Opposites will become their highest charting album since 2007’s Puzzle, which peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart.

An acoustic reworking of Justin Bieber’s latest album, Believe, is new in at Number 3, while Fleetwood Mac’s iconic 1977 album, Rumours, celebrates its 35th anniversary of going to Number 1 by re-entering the Official Albums Chart at Number 4. Finally Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events notches up its 51st week in the Top 10, and is at Number 5 on today’s Update.

New Entries

In addition to Biffy Clyro’s Opposites (Number 1) Justin Bieber’s Believe Acoustic (Number 3), and the 35th anniversary edition of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (Number 4), there are three other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart Update.

Passione, the 14th studio album and twenty-third solo album by Andrea Bocelli, looks set to give the Italian tenor his highest charting album in almost five years. It is Number 8 on today’s Update.

Meanwhile Welsh post-hardcore outfit Funeral For A Friend are on course for their highest charting album in nearly six years with their sixth studio album, Conduit (Number 16). Local Natives complete this week’s Official Album Chart Update’s new entries with their second full-length, Hummingbird, at Number 38.
