TEXAS HOLD ‘EM becomes Beyoncé’s longest-running UK Number 1 single

Today, Beyoncé celebrates a full month at Number 1 in the UK with TEXAS HOLD ‘EM, marking a new personal best for the superstar in the process. 

The sixth UK Number 1 single, lifted from her newly-announced upcoming album COWBOY CARTER, is now her longest-running chart-topper on the Official Singles Chart; besting the previous three-week peaks of 2003’s Crazy In Love with Jay-Z and 2007’s Beautiful Liar with Shakira.  

It also blows past the two Number 1 singles Beyoncé achieved as a member of Destiny’s Child; with 2000’s Independent Women and 2001’s Survivor both spending one week at the top of the chart. Thus, Beyoncé’s turn to country has dug up gold, gifting her the longest stretch at Number 1 of her entire career. 

Just missing out this week at Number 2, Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things was just 1,700 chart units away from topping the chart. Can he come back stronger next week? 

Congratulations to Ariana Grande, who scores this week’s highest new entry with her melancholic, Robyn-esque new single, we can’t be friends (wait for your love). Debuting at Number 3, it becomes Ari’s 22nd UK Top 10 hit. 

Following the Number 1 debut of eternal sunshine, lead single yes, and? rebounds back into the Top 10, up five to Number 6, while disco break-up track bye debuts at Number 13. 

Michael Marcagi’s Scared To Start reaches another new peak (14) while, following its Oscar win for Best Original Song and a new 7” vinyl drop, Billie Eilish’s former Number 1 What Was I Made For? re-enters the Top 40 (16). 

Bryson Tiller moves up three with Whatever She Wants (17), as US R&B singer-songwriter 4batz claims his Official UK Chart debut, thanks to Drake featuring on his single act ii – date @ 8, a new entry this week (18). 

Pozer continues to move upwards with Kitchen Stove (22), while California native Dasha makes her UK Top 40 debut, with vengeful country track Austin rising 32 places week-on-week (25). 

Following its chart debut last week, RAYE’s brassy Worth It. jumps four (34) and, finally, Colorado indie-folk band Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners rise four with Evergreen (37), helping the group score their first-ever UK Top 40 single.
